ImagiTable
Alternative Learning
March 18 - April 24
The Imagitable is an interactive table designed to bring hands-on learning and creativity to hospitalized children who can’t attend regular classes. Through engaging activities like art projects, educational games, and collaborative storytelling, it fosters cognitive growth, emotional healing, and social connection. The Imagitable transforms the hospital environment into a playful, supportive space where every child can learn, imagine, and thrive.
Research Activities:
To better understand the needs of hospitalized children, I created a proto persona named Eliza. Eliza is currently a fifth-grade student undergoing chemotherapy treatments who is determined not to fall behind academically. She is a hands on learner who thrives when using tactile tools and interactive activities. With the proto persona, I created a learning plan that outlines activities tailored to different energy levels, cognitive abilities, and creative interests, ensuring the ImagiTable could adapt to each child’s unique situation.

Visual Design Methods:
To guide the visual identity of the ImagiTable, I created a mood board focused on friendly and inclusive design. This exercise created a restricted color palette of soft, inviting hues that blend creativity with a feeling of comfort. It also influenced design elements like typography and icon styles for the final concept that is fun and accessible for kids in a hospital environment.

Interaction Design Methods:
To shape the user experience of the Imagitable, I designed a wireframe that outlines how children would interact with the digital interface. It emphasizes simple navigation and playful prompts that encourage creativity, eventually leading users from digital activities to a physical hands on project. This connection between virtual and tactile experiences ensure that the ImagiTable remains both engaging and educational for patients.
